Last week World Magazine published their  2019 Children’s Books of the Year list. The list offers many excellent recommendations for picture bookschildren’s novels, and non-fiction titles for beginning readers to young adult/teen readers. The article begins with a helpful caution. Many Bible-readers know Proverbs 22:6, which reads, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” So do many publishers of children’s books, and they may not have the best interests of your child at heart. So, choose your child’s books carefully. Their hearts and minds are shaped by the books they read and the media they consume. Along with the caution, encouragement is also provided. These books that are both spiritually edifying and well-reviewed . . . This year’s crops of excellent picture books and excellent children’s novels were so rich that we couldn’t decide on a single winner in either category, so in both we [World] picked two. Adults will enjoy perusing the 2018 Books of the Year lists and articles from World.
